1. La Jolla Shores
La Jolla Shores is known for an abundance of sea life, the long stretch of beach access and calm waters. It’s popular to rent SUP boards, kayaks, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear to have some fun in the waves.
2. PACIFIC BEACH/MISSION BEACH
This beach has access to a 3-mile boardwalk where you can bike, scooter, rollerblade, run etc. Great food and Belmont Park along the boardwalk. Find a basketball court, volleyball nets and bonfire pits at South Mission.
3. MISSION BAY
Directly across from Mission Beach is Mission Bay. Perfect place to bike, run, walk along the walkway. There’s a playground located at Fanuel Park. Most people rent out kayaks, sailboats, paddleboards, and jet skis to get around Mission Bay. You can board the Bahia Belle from the Catermeran or Bahia Hotel for just $10.
4. CORONADO
Coronado Island is a must-see spot when visiting San Diego. There are two ways to get to Coronado Island. You can take the 2 mile-long Coronado Bridge or drive through Imperial Beach to get to the Coronado Strand. This beach is known for calmer waters, perfect for kids.
5. Windansea
Windansea is located between La Jolla and Bird Rock. It’s a popular beach for young adults. The shore-break waves can get intense so be prepared when you decide to hop in the water for a swim.
