2019 New Years Resolutions

a close up of a sign

Whew, the holiday season is over and it’s a new year. Here’s a few common new year’s resolutions that people make and tips to make them stick for the long run.

Enjoy Life to the Fullest

It’s never too late to be inspired to get the most out of what this life has to offer. You already took the first step of making a list of your goals. Start to find things that you enjoy doing and do them more often! Stop putting life on hold and go after those things that you’re passionate about. Fill your life with thrilling experiences like doing something you’ve never done before. Spend your money on experiences that will leave you with lasting happiness.

Experience driving your own speed boat for the first time. At San Diego Speed Boat Adventures you can captain and navigate your own boat around the San Diego area. See awesome sites like the US Navy Submarine Base, USS Midway, the Maritime Museum, Coronado bridge, and more! http://www.speedboatadventures.com

Another thrilling experience in San Diego are Electric iRide Scooters. An experience of a lifetime that allows you to choose what exciting spots in San Diego that you want to see. Zip around San Diego in a storytelling scooter that guides you turn by turn through San Diego. https://iridesd.com/

Lose Weight

The beginning of the year is a great time to kick start your own person weight loss goals. The best way to start shedding pounds is to first focus on cutting calories. When you begin to search for that perfect dieting plan, find one that you believe is maintainable! Some find that keeping track of calories, water intake, macronutrients, and exercise is a good way to evaluate their progress and motivate them to reach their goals. Some free apps that track those are: MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, FatSecret, Cron-o-meter, and SparkPeople. Programs like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig are alternatives that may be easier to stay motivated.

Learn Something New

Learning something new can be difficult and time consuming. Try to shoot for something small and work your way up. Here’s some ideas:

  1. Learn a new recipe
  2. Learn how to juggle
  3. Learn how to play an instrument
  4. Learn how to snowboard/ski
  5. Master a new language

Spend Less Time on Social Media

It’s easy to get wrapped up in what everyone’s lives look like online. Before you know it you end up scrolling for over an 1hr. Did you know that instagram has a setting to manage your time and it will notify you when you reach your personal limit? Imagine what you could accomplish in the amount of time you spend on your phone and social media. If you find yourself on your phone for a majority of the day, take a look at your screen time in your phone settings. Select certain times throughout the day to put your phone away and be phone free.

Get Organized

There’s some preparation that comes with this new years resolution. Starting out with a massive deep clean may lead to more of a mess. Establish a daily and weekly routine before you begin anything. Think about things in your life that you need to declutter, consolidate, straighten up, sort and label. Remember everything needs a home, even if that’s in the trash.

Spend More Time with Family and Friends

It’s not always easy to invest as much time as you once did in all of your relationships! Choose this year to spend more time with people that matter. Set up times to meet up, facetime or phone calls with your loved ones!
